ART: > 500 Foot Drawings

For several years I have been making 500 foot long drawings. Here you can find video documentation of 4 of them. I will spend between 2 and 6 months working on these. They generally start out with a plan, but as I draw, I begin making associations to what is happening in the drawing and the plan becomes open. Before long the drawing loses any link to linear time. I enjoy the irony of viewing these in video format. I sometimes rip and crumple the drawing into a dense ball in an attempt to connect as many dots as possible. Experiencing time all at once and being able to navigate through it while I make these drawings is an adventure I love.
